At Spruce Design & Co. our primary services centralize around interior design needs. This project, however, mainly addressed the organization of our client’s kitchen. Through improving the use of the space, we were able to change the kitchen dramatically. I’ll share this transformation with you and highlight the organizational tips and methods you can use in your kitchen as well.
First, we took an inventory of what was in the space and then we categorized everything.
Next, we analyzed the work triangle and arranged our kitchen zones.
Kitchen zones are core to the operation and efficiency of a kitchen. “Zones” are centralized around the three main appliances in a kitchen: the range or cooktop, the sink/dishwasher, and the refrigerator. If you have a larger kitchen, you may choose to divide zones more specifically or add a zone for another appliance such as a microwave. So use this “zone mindset” when approaching kitchen organizing, but do not feel restricted. Zones are intended to work for you not against you.
Then we could take our categories and work them into the zones accordingly.
Finally, we executed the plan and reorganized everything in the kitchen.
Using this basic approach, the space can now be used more effectively and our client is enjoying a “spruced” space!
